Twenty-four years after their debut single “Runaway,” Bon Jovi is still rocking the house. On Feb. 10, the New Jersey rockers took over the Ft. Lauderdale’s Bank Atlantic Center and put on an amazing show. The sold out concert showed the world that their music had transcended time as they performed for a crowd of their original fans mixed with today’s teens, who have a passion for 80’s rock.

Jason and Adam’s Band, winners of Bon Jovi’s “Have A Nice Gig” competition, opened the night for one of the most talked about world tours this year. The contest was put together in order to give struggling artists the chance to make it. I have to say that the Ft. Lauderdale locals, really fired up the already ecstatic crowd.

Under bright yellow lights on the Bon Jovi’s guitarist Richie Sambora, drummer Tico Torres and pianist David Bryan appeared playing the opening chords to “Last Man Standing”, and the crowd breathlessly waited for Jon Bon Jovi. Suddenly, a light shined near the end of the floor area and Jon finally appeared, doing what he does best: rock.

From the first song to the last, the crowd never stopped cheering and singing along to every song, from “Runaway” to their current single “Complicated” off the latest Have A Nice Day album. Bon Jovi was clearly here to satisfy every screaming fan. With their fusion of pop and metal still perfectly intact and passionate, they sang just about all the hits, from “Born To Be My Baby,” which is my personal favorite, to “It’s My Life.” It was indeed a mind-blowing show. As a special treat, for the song “I’ll Be There For You” Jon stepped aside as Richie Sambora sang it alone.

Throughout the show Jon would interact with the audience hugging and shaking hands with his adoring fans. But I was surprised when Jon unexpectedly kissed a lucky fan on her lips, leaving every other female insanely jealous. bonjovi3

The show exceeded the crowds’ wildest expectations and they just couldn’t get enough of these hard-rocking New Jersey boys. Just when we thought the concert was over, Bon Jovi jumped back on stage for an encore of, “Wanted: Dead or Alive”. And we all went crazy one last time!
