I have caved in and just couldn’t bring anything unheard to the table. You all must know who Lana Del Rey is especially after her ghastly performance on Saturday Night Live and if you haven’t seen that Google it! After picking up her extended version of her Born to Die album, Paradise, I just had to give her the praise she deserves. There is something about Rey’s voice that’s nostalgic and frighteningly romantic. Even though her lyrics can be a bit ridiculous like her reference to her whohoo tasting like a Pepsi cola, which at times makes me wonder if she gets a routine checkup, she still blows my mind. As cheesy as this may sound I daydream about kissing someone in the rain and somehow Rey stands behind us signing only to us. I think I need to lay off the Netflix chick flick recommendations. Though Rey has been scrutinized for a false persona, her 1940’s vibe is pimpin’ and I could care less if it’s artificial. Who thought being a psychopath could sound so sexy? Listen to Rey’s “Serial Killer” and you’ll get my drift.

One of my good friends suggested Ferreira a couple of months ago. Once a model the now singer song-writer started singing gospel at a young age; however, it wasn’t till 2009 when her musical career started taking off. She began to release her singles, teasing us with an album that was supposed to be distributed in January of 2011. Though the album was pushed back she delighted our world by releasing her EP, Ghost this year. She has some melodramatic songs that are rather cute yet heart wrenching. The first time I heard Ghost I cried and my co-worker shrieked “That song is adorable!” It’s like a Vodka and Redbull, you tell your heart to go fast and slow all at the same time. You’ll be bound to cry and smile while you’re doing so.
