Star on the rise Sofia Donovan will be releasing her second EP “Left To The Clouds” on May 19th. With a voice resembling Michelle Branch and a very pop/folk/country style, the 18-year-old has been preparing herself to fully step into the music industry for quite a while. She is half Spanish and half American, but spent most of her childhood living in London; where at the age of eight started taking singing lessons, and by 12 she had written “Soldier’s Letter,” her very first song.
After undergoing surgery for scoliosis, an abnormal lateral curvature of the spine, at the age of 13 she found herself having a lot of time to spare and while recovering she started pursuing songwriting and playing guitar and piano. Out of that rain bloomed her debut EP “Square One.”
“I only realized that music was not a hobby but actually a necessity once I started writing songs influenced greatly by artist like Taylor Swift, The Civil Wars, Bob Dylan and Joni Mithcell,” Donovan said.
“Left To The Clouds” is a song she wrote after her grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary to celebrate their love story and deliver a message of love. Donovan believes that nothing is more important or beautiful than the things love can create.
