6 Beach Essentials for Summer

Going to the beach is a summer essential in itself. However, before diving into the water or lying under the sun, it’s important to make sure you are prepared for the sea, sand, and sun. Aside from taking the real basics– sunscreen, sunglasses, towels, etc.– here’s a list of must-have items for when you visit the beach:

1. A Real Beach Towel or a Beach Mat:

A regular towel from your laundry closet just won’t do it. For starters, you don’t want to mix beach water and sand with a towel you normally use to dry yourself off after taking a shower. Even after washing the towel, certain bacteria can and will remain on that towel. A beach towel, like this one from Kohls, is a lot larger and therefore gives you more space on the beach. For about $12 you can use a spacious towel to lay under the sun and dry off with. If you’re willing to splurge a little more, a beach mat is an alternative that can minimize sand and dirt interference.

2. Coconut Oil:

After spending a day under the sun and swimming in beach water, your skin, hair, and nails dry out. The beach has natural exfoliating properties that help out your skin, but it’s important to recuperate from that exfoliation. Coconut oil is the ultimate moisturizer for your body, and for less than $6, you can take it with you to the beach and apply some every once in awhile.

3. Speaker:

Turn your trip to the beach into a mini-party and enjoy listening to Beyonce’s “Lemonade” or Drake’s “Views” while drinking lemonade and enjoying the view. For less than $40, you can buy a Bluetooth speaker that upgrades your beach experience. Have someone create a fun playlist to enjoy while soaking up the sun. Apple Music, Spotify, and Pandora also offer pre-made playlists that other users have created specifically for different events, such as a day at the beach.

4. First Aid Kit:

The beach is all fun and games until someone gets hurt. Whether it’s a scrape on a rock, a sun burn, a jellyfish sting, or even a small cut, a basic first aid kit can come in handy if any injuries occur. Add eye drops, anti-itch cream, and aloe vera for the ultimate beach first-aid kit.

5. External Battery for your phone:

Selfies, Snapchats, and playing music are what make the beach memorable, but all those things consume a ton of energy, and before you know it, your phone is at 2% battery life. Take an external battery so your phone’s battery can last for the entire beach day.

6. All-In-One Beach Umbrella Cabana:

The beach can be a messy and uncomfortable situation. Sand can get everywhere if you’re sitting on the ground, everything gets soaked, and the sun can easily burn you. By getting an all-in-one umbrella equipped with shelter and a seat, you can enjoy the beach without the hassle that may come with it.
