After endless hours by the pool or spending most of your weekends watching Netflix, the moment we have been avoiding is right around the corner. In other words, it is time to start getting ready for a new school year. For most of us, this may seem like the end of the world while for others it’s the beginning of a new chapter. Whether you are transitioning from middle to high school or planning to attend a university, everyone should be aware of some tips and tricks on how to have a successful school year.

Here are some tips that may help you start off on the right foot:

Plan ahead

You want to have all basic necessities ahead of time. So it will be a great idea to plan out a day or two for back-to-school shopping.

  • Shop for your school supplies early

Most retail companies, like Walmart and Office Depot, have exclusive deals on school supplies early on for Back-To-School season. You should definitely take advantage of these deals, which usually last about a week. So be on the lookout for dates. In addition to receiving good deals, it is best to buy school supplies early to avoid the madness and to be able to purchase everything you need without running into the out of stock scenario.

  • Buy new school clothes

Besides having the school supplies prepared, the first-day outfit is something students do stress over, so you may want to get your outfit out of the way before anything else. Many clothing stores like Old Navy, Nike, H&M, Ross have great deals for students. Therefore, your favorite style of clothing items will most likely be on sale for a couple of days before school begins. Make some time to find anything you need during sales.

Back-to-School Supplies List

Although every school has a different supply list, there are a few school supplies that everyone should have to be organized and efficient during your academic year.

  • A durable backpack

Purchasing a sturdy backpack, to safely store your materials and school assignments, will assure you longevity; therefore, it will be with you throughout the school year.

  • Small Pencil Pouch with Pens, Mechanical Pencils, and Highligthers

At least in one of your classes, you are going to be required to use a pen or pencil when completing an assignment. Therefore, you should have a small pencil pouch with a couple of blue, red, and black pens along with several mechanical pencils and a few highlighters. Personally, I would recommend BIC 4-Color Ballpoint Pen because it lessens the number of pens in your pencil pouch.

  • Laptop

Over the past decade, technology has evolved in our school system. The majority of the textbooks used and subjects taught involve technology. Therefore, you should invest in a laptop to have access to resources online and take notes from your classes. However, if you do not have the money for that, most schools allow students to rent a device for a small fee.

Preparing to return to school should get you in “school mode,” and it will also make the transition smother. Have a great 2019-2020 school year! And remember to always #BeOutLoud
