The most wonderful, yet stressful, time of the year when it comes to picking gifts is here! And if you fall into the category of the ones who wait until a week before Christmas to start your holiday shopping, this guide may be for you.
No matter how long or short your list is, last-minute shopping can be dreading – especially if you are on a budget and missed the sales after Thanksgiving. As a rule of thumb, people tend to spend more money on last-minute gifts by walking in the store and getting whatever catches their attention. However, if you are reading this, that rule may not apply to you.
Let me start off by saying that all the stores have a “holiday deal” section on their website where they list the deals of the day, so you can definitely take a look at that and see what you can get from there. Stores like Macy’s and Walmart, have curated a list of items under $25, that will prevent your pocket from getting hurt if you are on a strict budget. Macy’s not only curated the under $25 list, but they also have a section called “gifts for every budget,” where you can find amazing gifts for anyone –literally everyone dog included- ranging from $10 and up.
For the beauty junky, Ulta and Sephora are your best bet. They have some great hair and makeup holiday sets, as well as single items that can be used to fill up a Christmas stocking. If you can’t make it to the mall you can visit your nearest drugstore, some of them are opened 24 hours, so you can always make a late-night run for some makeup or skincare product.
For the tech junky, Best Buy is the place to hit. They have a vast variety of tech goods and the lowest prices of the season. From 4K TVs to charger pads to any type of headphone or camera, Best Buy has everything your tech junkies need. If you have the Best Buy credit card, you can get some great financing options.
All the stores mentioned above have the same-day pickup option, so you don’t have to stress over timing.
Now, if you are more into getting the gifts delivered to your door, Amazon will always be there for you. On the website, you will find everything you can think of, so you can’t go wrong there. Prime members can get deliveries as early as next day (in some items) or get the two-day delivery in most of the items, which is super convenient for the people who can’t or don’t want to walk into the crowded malls.
If for whatever reason you were not able to find the “perfect” gift for your loved ones this year, don’t waste your money on whatever you come across with. A DIY card and a chocolate bar will be appreciated the same if not more than a random gift. Remember that spending time with your family is far more valuable than a gift, so you may want to give them just that.
Don’t make last-minute shopping a habit, it will cause you headaches. But for now enjoy the holidays!
